DECEIVED BY DESIRE

Its back to school time at least it is for me, so thats the main reason why this review it a bit late. Anyways, the book that is being reviewed today is called Deceived by Desire by one of my favorite authors, Marie Force from her Gilded Series. I have not done a review on the first book of the series, Duchess by Deception for a couple reasons that also intertwine with the backstory of this series. When Marie Force first announced that she was releasing a historical romance series, I was a bit apprehensive about it  due to my limited exposure to the specific category, which is the The Lustful Lord Series by Sorcha Mowbray. Therefore, I waited for a good bit after the release of the firs book to read it, and by the time I read it, many months had passed. However, now having read both books in this historical romance series, I can tell you that I really fell in love with the setting, the characters, and the storylines, but for this review I am going to focus on Deceived by Desire. Lets get into it...

As mentioned before, Deceived by Desire is book two in the Gilded Series. As soon as I read the first book, I could not wait for its sequel and boy, it did not disappoint. It truly reminded me of a Bollywood movie in novel form taking place in the early 20th century. If you know anything about romantic Hollywood movies (especially from the 90s- Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge), its all about the protagonist (girl) falling in love with a boy that the girls` parents do not approve of. Instead, in this novel, the roles are reversed, the setting is changed to a different period, and the culture is different, although similar in some degree. While reading this novel, I felt like there was a movie going on in my head. In a weird way, this book reminded me of my childhood of my love of romantic Bollywood movies as well as reading historical fiction books (American Diaries?). It was basically a weird mash of the two in the best way with the best twist, being written by one of my favorite authors. Now that I have rambled for a bit, the synopsis is going up next as well as information of where to buy this book, the series and more information about the brilliant author.

ONE YEAR LATER

Its here you guys...the sequel of Five Years Gone has finally been released! Actually, it was released today, a little over 12 hrs ago, so I`m going to keep this review spoiler free and as always leave the blurb and links below. By the way...I did a review similar format to this review on the first book of the duo-logy (for the time being), so if you want to read that review, its under the Oct 2018 tab. Anyways...let`s get into it....

I`m going to preface this review by saying that please make sure you have read the previous book, Five Years Gone, before you read this one. Usually, I don`t say this, but for these books, at least for me, I feel that you will understand the storyline of One Year Later much better if you have read the first book of this short series. Now, that being said, this book was much better than Five Years Gone for me simply because I loved the complicated storyline that this book addressed. While the previous book broke me, One Year Later shattered me. I fell in love with the protagonist and felt so much for him throughout the book. Don`t get me wrong, I still love Five Years Gone, but One Year Later definitely takes the cake. If you loved Five Years Gone, you will for sure love its sequel. I would highly encourage you all to read this amazing novel!

The hotly anticipated follow up to Five Years Gone is here!
ONE YEAR HOME by Marie Force is available now!

He came home a hero and lost the only woman he’s ever loved...

John
I have no idea how to survive without my beloved Ava. She had no choice but to move on with her life during my six-year deployment and has now married Eric. I hate him for taking her from me. I’d prefer to wallow in my depression and heartbreak, but the whole damned world wants a piece of the SEAL Team leader who helped capture the world’s most-wanted terrorist. I need help handling the relentless requests, and when Ava sends her new sister-in-law to manage the media circus for me, I’m prepared to hate her on principle. Her brother took my Ava. What else do I need to know about her?

Julianne
It takes five seconds to realize Ava’s ex is going to be the most complicated and difficult client I’ve ever had, but the opportunity to represent the most celebrated man in the world could make my career. I’m determined to do the job, even if I dislike John from the moment I meet him. And I like everyone. So much so that my brothers worry about me being exploited by those who would take advantage of my unwavering love for others. But John… He’s in a class by himself, and his bitterness is a festering wound that I begin to wish I could somehow fix for him. The more time we spend together, the more our mutual disdain morphs into something that feels an awful lot like desire. There’s no way I can want this man, or so I tell myself, and when Eric finds out I’ve developed feelings for the man causing trouble in his new marriage, well…

That’s going to be a hot mess.

TILL THERE WAS YOU

To be honest, I have been waiting for this book release for a long time, okay, maybe a couple months, but for a college kid, its seems like forever. Anyways, Til There was You was a great read especially if you are already obsessed with the Stillman-Abbott-Coleman clan like me. Til There was You is the latest book in the Green Mountain/Butler,VT series. It follows the story of Lucas Abbott and his story to finding his true love. Now, Lucas in prior books, has always been portrayed by this older siblings as the goofy, and joking Abbott brother, alongside his twin brother, Landon. This book, for me, gave a better insight in to who Lucas is as an individual, and his relationship with his twin brother. I think it was surprising to see Lucas in from this perspective, since in prior books, he has been always put together with his twin, so seeing things from only his point of view was refreshing. While we still see elements of his goofy nature throughout the book, we also see a more serious side to this character, such as how torn he is when he realizes that his twin and him like the same girl, how kind, thoughtful, helpful he is, how dedicated he is to his job, among other things. When we first meet Dani, and her daughter, Savannah, they are on their way to Vermont to start a new life, where they get stuck in a bad crash in the middle of a bad blizzard, and this is how they come to meet Lucas Abbott. I love how these characters meet and their story begins. Marie did a beautiful job writing this book and I loved every minute of it. I highly encourage you all to pick this book up because it is honestly a great read and so is the rest of the books in this series. Next up is Landon`s book, so keep your eyes and ears peeled for that one by following Marie on her social media, and following her newspaper. The Green Mountain/Butler, VT series is just one of the many series that Marie Force is writing. After read Lucas`s story, make sure to check on her other series (on her new website) as well such as the McCarthy`s at Gansett Island (has 20 books), and the Fatal Series (all about mysteries, and romance). All the links will be linked down below.

BLURB:
Being an adult has its advantages...

Lucas Abbott and his identical twin grew up sharing everything—including a reputation for funny, idiotic behavior. But now that Lucas is ready to shed that lovable-idiot image, grow up and have a real, adult relationship, the joke’s on him. He and his twin have fallen for the same woman.

Crushed and hoping a few days on the slopes will work out his frustrations, he heads for Stowe, Vermont. All thought of fun and relaxation flies away as a car spins out in a snowstorm, and his firefighter/paramedic training kicks into high gear.

Danielle Rowson is hoping to pick up the pieces and build a new life for herself and her daughter in Vermont. Winding up in a ditch in the middle of a blizzard isn’t part of the plan—and neither is the kind, sexy rescuer whose strong hands pull them to safety.

Lucas has been a little kid, a big kid and now an adult—and he discovers that adulting has more than one advantage. Especially when it comes to sharing with Dani and Savannah the one thing that’s his and his alone: his love.

THE ROCK

Hello, it me. lol. So, yes I`m back, again for the hundredth time. Hopefully now that its summer time, I can post more, but no promises, pun intended... Anyways, lets get into the review...

The Rockwell Legacy books have been on the forefront of my mind since I came across one of the books in this series this past December. Let`s give a quick rundown of the series. The Rockwell Legacy series focuses on the five Rockwell siblings, each that has their own book, and journey. It is written by the amazing Jennifer Bernard. The series begins with the oldest, Kai Rockwell, in The Rebel. Next, the series moves on to the second oldest, Griffin Rockwell, in The Rogue. Thirdly, we meet Isabelle Rockwell in The Renegade. The fourth book, The Runaway focuses on the baby of the family, Gracie Rockwell. The series ends with this final book, The Rock, with Jake Rockwell, the heart of the family as well as Isabelle`s  lesser evil twin. I have reviews for Isabelle`s, and Gracie`s books, and now its time for Jake`s reviews. I mentioned this in my last review (Grace`s), that I suggest to read this particular series in order even though its viewed as stand-alone books. One more, I had also mentioned in the previous review that not all the answers surrounding the family mystery were answered in the previous book. I can happily report back that we finally get the answers in this installment.  Okay, now finally getting onto the review, I promise...

First, and foremost, I have a very bittersweet feeling with The Rock because on one hand I loved this book, but also its the last book in this series, and I`m not sure if we ever going to see the Rockwell`s again (yes, I realize I sound crazy, but I really fell in love with this series and family, so, let`s not judge...). There were two main reasons I loved this book, firstly, the mystery is finally solved, you know the mystery surrounding the sibling`s mother, and all that, and secondly, I love Jake`s character. He is easy-going, charming, thoughtful, funny, and most of all, the heart of the Rockwell clan. Basically, he`s the perfect book boyfriend, so scoot over previous book boyfriends, I have my eye on a new guy and he`s gorgeous, again pun intended...lol. This book goes into Jake`s journey of putting all the puzzle pieces of the overarching family mystery as well as finding love on the way with his counterpart, Olivia James, who is also amazing, but also his perfect other half. Thats all I`m going to say, because I don`t want to give away too much. This book is a real gem, and I have already read it twice, so you know it has my stamp of approval.  As per usual, the synopsis, information about the author, Jennifer Bernard, her links (website and social media), links to buy this amazing book, as well as a surprise giveaway, yay!

She now offers her services only to women in need…but she’s made an exception for a friend. Which might possibly be the biggest mistake of her life, since Jake is as maddening as he is charming…and thoughtful…and insanely hot.

The closer they work together and the more Rockwell family secrets they expose, the harder it is for Olivia and Jake to resist their sizzling connection.
